CO2 Duty” Presentation at Hakuba Minami Elementary School
A “CO2 Duty” presentation was held at Hakuba Minami Elementary School, led by Dr. Akihiro Hori, CTO of SyncMOF.
Dr. Hori began the session with an engaging analogy: “Just like the lunch monitors provide food for you to grow, the CO2 monitors provide CO2 for the plants to grow.” The presentation focused on how scattered CO2 can be efficiently collected using MOFs (Metal-Organic Frameworks) and transformed into a valuable resource.
Implementing decarbonization efforts in schools goes beyond just reducing CO2 emissions. By learning about CO2 collection and reuse, students are introduced to the world of chemistry (MOFs), the wonders of biology (photosynthesis), and the advancements in technology (collection devices). This process not only enhances their understanding of environmental issues but also sparks interest in science and technology, greatly improving learning outcomes.
We hope this initiative will inspire the next generation to see the potential of CO2 as a resource, while also encouraging them to think about how they can take action to protect the planet.
The event was a great success, with Hakuba Village Mayor Toshio Maruyama, Hakuba Tourism Bureau Secretary-General Yojiro Fukushima, and Ski National Demonstrator Junya Maruyama in attendance.
